Cayo Coco is a huge sandbar, linked to the mainland by a causeway. If you stop off at Parador la Silla, about half way across the causeway, you can see hundreds of flamingos and some spectacular views.
The seas around Cayo Coco provide some of the best deep sea fishing in Cuba, and several freshwater lakes nearby have become popular for fresh water fishing as well.
There are miles of trekking trails here, which can be explored on foot or on horseback.

There are four famous under water spots in Cayo Coco. Tourists can see gorgonians and sponges of diverse shapes and colours along with big snappers, devilfish and White-Spotted Eagle rays Reef Sharks and Nurse Sharks.

WEATHER
Summer season (May to October) is long, hot and rainy in Cayo Coco, with average temperatures of 26-27C. In summer the maximum day temperature is 32C and the minimum night temperature is 22C. Average sea temperatures of Cayo Coco are 27-28C. Average sunshine hours are 7-8 hours. Heat and humidity is high in the summer season.
Winter season (November to April) is dry and not much cooler than the summer season. Sea temperature does not fall below 25C. Average temperature is 20C and daylight hours are 11-12 hours a day in winter. Average sunshine hours in winter are 7 hours and a maximum of 9 hours.
There are two main seasons in Cayo Coco, the dry one is winter, whilst it is rainy and hot in the summer.
Most of the rain occurs in the summer season but torrential rain can come at any time of year. 70% of rainfall occurs in the summer and only 30% in winter. The lowest rainfall is from December to April, and the highest rainfall is in October.
