The weather of Cayo Guillermo is hot and dry throughout most of the year.
The summer season runs from May to October and the winter season from November to April.
The average temperature in the summer season is 31-33C and 24-27C in winter season, with average sunshine hours of 7-8 hours all the year round.
The humidity level is high in the summer season and normal in the winter season.
Rainfall occurs between May and September but the periods of rain do not last long and do not stop visitors from enjoying the outdoor activities.

A visit to Santiago de Cuba would not be complete without an excursion to Santa Ifigenia Cemetery where Jose Marti, the founder of Cuba’s independence, is buried.

The 26th of July Museum (was the Moncada Garrison) and Siboney Farm are worth visiting as they played an important part in Cuba’s recent history.

Not far from Santiago de Cuba you will find the first open-sky copper mine in the Americas and the first museum in Cuba (Emilio Bacardi) which are also very interesting.

Pinar del Rio Province, a place of natural beauty, is Cuba’s most westerly province and it’s third largest province. The main attractions here are the provinces flora and fauna. The Pinar del Rio coast has excellent yacht anchorages, fascinating corals and beautiful white sandy beaches.

The region contains two of Cuba’s six world biosphere preserves, the Valle de Vinales and one of Cuba’s three main mountain ranges, The Cordillera de Guaniguanico.

Pinar del Rio was the birthplace of several great artists, musicians and sportsmen.

Habano cigars, which are probably the best in the world, are made in the cigar factories here in Pinar.

PLACES TO VISIT

North of Pinar del Rio is The Valle de Vinales, a fertile valley in the Sierra de los Organos which UNESCO has declared to be a world heritage site. This area is particularly popular with walkers and horse riders.

Las Terrazas which is a tourist community and nature reserve that blends in with it’s surroundings. Here you will find hotels, restaurants and a large forest.

Holguin is located in the east of Cuba. In 1492 Christopher Columbus landed in Bariay, on the coast of Holguin and declared that it was ‘the most beautiful land ever seen by human eyes’.

The City of Holguin, 65 kms from Frank Pais International Airport, is close to the cities of Banes and Gibara, Gibara being the only Cuban city other than Havana to be surrounded by walls.

Tourist attractions in Holguin Province include 34 rivers, 6 waterfalls, 6 dams, 5 submarine areas, 19 historical and cultural sites, 135 archaeological sites and 22 coastal bays.

Holguin features a warm subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The year round mild climate creates only two distinctive seasons – the summer and winter. Temperature averages at 25C on the yearly basis, while the peak summer months often exceed 30C.
The daytime climates throughout the coldest months of winter (December and January) rarely fall below 18ºC. This is the best time to visit Holguin as rainfall is at its minimum and the scorching summers climates have lowered to a more comfortable level.

BEACHES

Holidays in the Holguin region are perfect for tourists wanting a quiet, relaxing vacation on some of Cuba’s most beautiful and unspoilt beaches.  
 
Guardalavaca (1,200 metres long) is one of the most famous beaches in the province, with coral reefs, cliffs and fascinating vegetation. Guardalavaca is close to Gibara, the place where Colon first landed in Cuba.

Boca de las Esponjas, El Salto and Canon de los Aguajies are all great for scuba diving. Tanques Azules, in Gibara, is a group of unique flooded caverns which offer special challenges for underwater cave divers. 

ATTRACTIONS

The Saetia Key is a beautiful natural park in the Bay of Nipe. Antelopes, deer, wild bulls, zebras, boars and other animals freely roam this park.

The Loma de la Cruz (the Hill of the Cross), probably the most famous place in the city, features a 450-step stairway that is steeped with history and legends. For years it was the site of pilgrimages and more recently it has been the site for the Romerias de Mayo, a festival that brings together the modern and traditional.

The stunningly beautiful Naranjo Bay Nature Reserve gives an opportunity to swim with dolphins.

Mayabe Lookout is another elevation in the southeast of the city with wonderful views of the city.

WEATHER IN GUARDALAVACA
Guardalavaca experiences a subtropical climate with high temperatures and plenty of year-round sunshine. The resort enjoys an average annual temperature of 29C, and, due to its easterly position, sees warmer weather than areas on the west coast.
 
The best time to visit Guardalavaca is during the British winter, when the weather is hot and dry, and humidity levels are at their lowest. December to April is the peak tourist season when temperatures hover around 27C – 28C and the resort sees 6 – 8 hours of sunshine. Water temperatures in Guardalavaca remain around 25C – 26C during this time, ideal for swimming and water sports. Winter also sees the driest weather, with the period from January to April receiving the least amount of rain.   
 
Humidity increases in June, staying high until the end of September. Summer temperatures reach 32C, with 7 – 8 hours of sunshine each day, and there is more rain during this time.

Hurricane season in Guardalavaca runs from August to October, with October being the wettest month of the year.

There are four famous under water spots in Cayo Coco. Tourists can see gorgonians and sponges of diverse shapes and colours along with big snappers, devilfish and White-Spotted Eagle rays Reef Sharks and Nurse Sharks.

At Cayo Coco’s beaches visitors can enjoy horse riding, trout fishing, jeep safaris, jungle tours, yacht cruises, glass-bottomed boat trips and snorkelling.

WEATHER

Summer season (May to October) is long, hot and rainy in Cayo Coco, with average temperatures of 26-27C. In summer the maximum day temperature is 32C and the minimum night temperature is 22C. Average sea temperatures of Cayo Coco are 27-28C. Average sunshine hours are 7-8 hours. Heat and humidity is high in the summer season. 
Winter season (November to April) is dry and not much cooler than the summer season. Sea temperature does not fall below 25C. Average temperature is 20C and daylight hours are 11-12 hours a day in winter. Average sunshine hours in winter are 7 hours and a maximum of 9 hours.
There are two main seasons in Cayo Coco, the dry one is winter, whilst it is rainy and hot in the summer.
Most of the rain occurs in the summer season but torrential rain can come at any time of year. 70% of rainfall occurs in the summer and only 30% in winter. The lowest rainfall is from December to April, and the highest rainfall is in October.
